Hey Lee’s Summit! Here’s what’s happening this week!
Whether you’re currently hiding eggs, prepping a ham, or just enjoying a quiet Sunday morning, I’m so glad you’re here.
I’ve spent the last few days digging through local headlines to make sure your Easter Sunday morning coffee comes with the absolute best lowdown on what’s happening in our town.
Grab your caffeine and let’s dive into the Lowdown!
-
World Cup Tech: Three LSHS students built a translation and navigation app for the 2026 crowds. It’s smart, useful, and makes us look good on a global stage.
-
April 7th Election: Tuesday is the day. If you care about who runs this town, show up at the polls. (Plus who doesn’t like the free sticker?)
-
Pryor Road Mess: New closures start tomorrow. Eagle View Drive at Pryor is shut down through June. Use Eagle Creek Drive unless you enjoy sitting in a dead end. Longview Road closes at Pryor on April 13th for a month.
-
Ninja Warriors: The Women’s Ninja Association Championships just wrapped up in LS. These athletes are incredible – not sure how they make it look so easy!
-
Sweep the Summit: Mark April 25th for spring cleaning. RecycleFEST is at City Hall for your old batteries and bikes, and the Stream Team will be at Deer Valley Park. Sign the waivers at CityofLS.net/sweep so you don’t have to do it in the dirt!
🔥 Local Business Spotlight: Burn Boot Camp Lee’s Summit

Looking for a high-energy, family-oriented workout? Community member Dennis reached out to recommend Burn Boot Camp, calling them the “best workouts in town.”
Why it stands out:
-
Family-Focused: They offer child care so you can focus on your workout worry-free.
-
Always Fresh: No two “killer” workouts are ever the same.
-
Top-Tier Motivation: The trainers push you to your limits in an inclusive, supportive environment.
Whether you’re a busy mom or a “Burn Bro” like Dennis, you’re welcome to jump in. They even offer a free workout for newcomers!
📍 Find them: Check out their latest updates on Facebook.
Special thanks to Dennis Lopez for the suggestion!

P.S. Is it even Easter if you don’t have a box of Peeps sitting on the counter? Pro tip: If you leave them open for 24 hours, they get that “perfect” crunch. Or, you know, just use them as colorful doorstops. 🚪🐣
