Hey Lee’s Summit! Here’s what’s happening this week!
Welcome back to the Lee’s Summit Lowdown! I’m so glad you’re here. Here’s what we are covering this week:
-
🤖 Bot-tastic: LSR7 Robotics “super alliance” sweeps the Heartland Regional.
-
🏹 Bullseye: District success at the State Archery Championship.
-
🏀 Titan Resilience: LS West girls basketball takes 3rd in the State.
-
🏟️ The Dome Debate: A 53-foot inflatable sports complex is sparking conversation.
-
👕 Mom-Powered: The local print shop run entirely by Lee’s Summit moms.
-
🗳️ Election Countdown: Why April 7th matters (and where to find the “Deep Dive”).
Is it July already? ☀️🥤
With the thermometer hitting 90+ degrees this weekend, I hope you found a patio seat and stayed hydrated. I was sipping on Red Bull this morning as I finalized this edition – I needed the extra “wings” just to keep up with all the Lee’s Summit wins hitting my inbox!
From a “super alliance” bringing home blue banners in robotics to our archers dominating the state stage in Branson, it has been a fantastic weekend for Lee’s Summit. In this edition, we’re breaking down some of those big wins, diving into the 53-foot “Sports Dome” debate hitting City Council, and I’m revealing that April 7th Election Guide I’ve been working on.
Let’s get into the Lowdown while the sun is out!
🏹 A Celebration for LS Archery
Lee’s Summit rocked in the Missouri State Archery Championship in Branson.
High School: Lee’s Summit North High School took 3rd Place in the state for the 3D tournament! 🥇
Middle School: Pleasant Lea claimed 3rd Place in the 3D Tournament, with Bernard Campbell earning a fantastic 4th Place in the Bullseye Tournament.
Elementary: Longview Farm Elementary took home 6th Place in the Bullseye Tournament.
Congratulations on Addi and Audrey Kraft for qualifying for Nationals!
This level of district-wide success is a massive testament to the dedication of our coaches, parents, and archers!
🤖 Robotics: The Heartland Takeover

All three LSR7 high schools traveled to Shawnee for the FRC Heartland Regional, and it was a total podium takeover.
-
The Blue Banner Alliance: In a legendary team-up, the Broncobots (LS North #1987) and Team Titanium (LS West #1986) joined forces to become the Regional Winners! 🥇
-
Regional Impact: The Broncobots also took home the Regional FIRST Impact Award, the highest honor in robotics.
-
Autonomous Excellence: Team Titanium secured the Autonomous Award for their elite programming.
-
Top Tier Performance: Team Driven (LS High #1730) finished in the Top 5, proving LS is the undisputed capital of Midwest robotics. 🤖
Watching all three of our schools dominate a regional competition like this proves that Lee’s Summit isn’t just a sports town – we are a STEM powerhouse. Huge congrats to the students and mentors!
🏀 Titan Resilience: 3rd in State
While our archers and engineers were dominating their fields, the LS West girls basketball team was showing the state what Titan Pride looks like on the hardwood.
After a hard-fought semifinal battle, the Titans showed incredible grit to bounce back and secure a 65-52 win over Jackson. Taking 3rd place in the Class 6 state championship is a historic feat – huge congratulations to the players and coaches for a phenomenal season! 🥉
🏟️ The Great Dome Debate:
Things are heating up at the View High Sports Complex. Developers are proposing a 53-foot-tall inflatable sports dome to cover the outdoor soccer field for 16 weeks during the winter. While it would provide a much-needed year-round facility for our youth athletes, some neighbors are concerned about the visual impact on their backyards. A public hearing is scheduled for March 24, 2026, at the City Council meeting.
👕 Moms Supplying Our Local “Swagger”:
I love a good “basement-to-warehouse” success story. Gina Seibel’s KC Swagger is now a 2,000-square-foot powerhouse run entirely by local moms. She’s structured the business so her staff of 10 can be home when their kids get off school. That is the kind of local ingenuity we love to see! I may have one or two (or ten) of their shirts!
🍸 The “Pitch” Perfect Cocktail
Lee’s Summit is officially on the map for the KC metro’s cocktail scene! The Pitch recently highlighted a local gem, Libations & Company, and their vibrant Daisy Carrot.
If you haven’t stepped out of your comfort zone to try it yet, now is the time. It’s a mix of pineapple rum, amaro, and a splash of carrot juice – and trust me, it’s a “top shelf” experience.
🤫 A Lowdown Exclusive Coming Soon: Speaking of great drinks, I’ve been chatting with another local Downtown LS bar owner who is cooking up something special. Starting next month, they’ll be featuring a “Lowdown Cocktail of the Month” exclusively for our readers! I’m sworn to secrecy for a few more days, but check back next Sunday for the big reveal and all the delicious details.
⏪ The LS Loop: Election Special
It was a rare quiet week for our local officials with no City Council or Board of Education meetings on the calendar. But while the dais was empty, the campaign trail was busier than ever.
🗳️ Your Guide to the April 7th Election To help you cut through the “noise” of yard signs and stump speeches, I’ve spent the last month attending Chamber of Commerce forums and analyzing every candidate questionnaire I could find.
I’ve compiled a Voter Guide on my website to help you go into the booth informed. I’ve broken down the candidates and the issues to help you save time on your research before heading to the polls! I’ll be updating as more information becomes available. Feel free to email me if you notice anything I should add!

✍️ Help Me Shape the Lowdown
The Sports Dome debate is definitely the talk of the neighborhood this week. Are you “Team Dome” for the year-round sports access, or are you concerned about the 53-foot footprint in a residential area? Hit reply and let me know your thoughts!
Thanks for being part of the Lowdown crew!

P.S. I’m still buzzing (partly from the caffeine, partly from the pride!) about our students’ performance in Branson, Shawnee, and Columbia this week. It’s not every day a single school district does this well in both in Archery, Robotics, and Basketball at the same time. If you see a coach or a mentor at the grocery store this week, give them a high-five! 🏹🤖🏀
